‘Chuck-a-Luck’ relates to the German word ‘Glückswurf’ meaning ‘lucky throw’. And for the neighbourhood, a new housing estate near Arnhem in the Netherlands, the cube-like sculpture designed by Raumlabor Berlin was also to become one. The challenge was to create an open steel structure measuring 5×5 metres, which could quickly and easily be converted depending on the situation and thus has an activating effect on the residents.
